Kipwil woke early and wandered out to see Nanny Nutrition, who was busy organising today's breakfast recipe. This particular recipe was having none of it however, throwing ingredients back into the cupboards, frowning and stamping his little feet.
" Oh Good morning dearie, I'm so sorry, " paused Nanny to swat at the recipe flashing past," but it appears your breakfast frittata will be little late this morning." she flustered on, her normally neat white hair escaping its bun as she flapped about the kitchen.
" Nanny, don't worry about him. Let's have something different" said Kipwil frowning at the recalcitrant frittata recipe who perched himself on top of the kitchen cupboard, sticking out his eggy tongue.
" Well well, let's see then, what do I have here? How about a nice Berry smoothie? " pondered Nanny, as a little purple recipe skipped winningly, braids bouncing, into her hands and smiled at the two faces looking at her.
" Perfect" smiled Kipwil and helped the recipe get the ingredients....100g frozen mixed berries, 250mls of milk, 25 gms of rolled oats, and watched as they tumbled into the blender. In just 30 seconds of whizzing, breakfast was served. Frittata recipe scowled and shuffled his feet.
" Well, " said Kipwil, catching his eye," maybe we could have the frittata tomorrow?"
" I think we could" said Nanny, much calmer now as she hurried a happier frittata recipe back into his folder.
Breakfast wrangling over, Kipwil sat in the sun and planned her day. She was getting new equipment for the kitchen today, something Nanny Nutrition was VERY excited about, a brand new fridge and freezer! So after that is delivered, Nanny, Kipwil and the children were to go grocery shopping for the week. Hopefully that will leave time for a swim this afternoon. Kipwil thought to herself.
Kipwil had been powering along her New Years Challenge and was hoping to finish the running/biking part in January and make a big dent in the swimming component. She had already run a total of 33 kilometres and was very proud of herself for running a 15 km run in 1hr 34 mins. Add to that bike riding for 21 Kilometres and she was well on track.
Unfortunately, the night before's bike ride ended badly. Kipwil and Randy were flying along the river bank, loving the wind in their hair and the warmth of the sunset in the background. Hubba Hubba had come along too on his steed and Kipwil was enjoying powering along, chatting with Hubba Hubba about his studies to become a PT. He had decided to sign up, sat an entrance interview and was accepted into his year long course. He would be training Kipwil as part of his assessments, and they were talking about things they could do. Suddenly Kipwil noticed Randy had stopped joining in the conversation and seemed to be straining a little.
" Randy, what's wrong?" Kipwil asked concerned.
" I don't feel well," said Randy weakly," I hurt and I've just got no puff left."
Hubba Hubba and Kipwil looked over Randy carefully and Kipwil found the problem.
" Randy, you poor thing, you've got a burr in your tyre. It's made a hole. There'll be no more riding for you until we can fix it up for you." said Kipwil gently.
Randy sagged a little. " But we are almost 8 kilometres from home! How will you get there?" he worried.
" I have legs, you know!" Kipwil exploded out laughing, and Hubba Hubba and Kipwil had walked home in the evening twilight.
Still, Kipwil thought I can catch up on the swimming and I can run the last 24 honour kilometres.
Kipwil switched on her communication tablet and noticed a lot of activity between her 12WBT friends. Of course! Pre season for the next round had just begun. Kipwil sighed, feeling suddenly lost and a little alone. She wanted to be back there, she missed her home, surrounded by friends who understood the hard times and were there to cheer on each success, no matter how little. She'd already expereinced a little of the negativity in the real world which had surprised her. She missed Queen Mish's words and seeing her every day. She missed having direction and purpose laid out for her.
A wise man called Will Rogers once said " Don't let yesterday use up too much of today" came a calm sparkling voice. In front of Kipwil appeared the shining figure again. Do you know my name yet Kipwil?
" No would be the short answer! But can I call you Diamond Doll in the meantime?" Kipwil said smiling at her new friend.
Diamond Doll tinkled like crystal shards in the breeze and Kipwil realised she was laughing.
As good a name as any for now. came the twinkling response. The past is the past Kipwil. you have learned your lessons and are putting them into practice. To move ahead you need to look forward. Looking backwards could cause you to stray from your path or worse, stand still and not move at all. Look ahead and when you do see your way, let me know what you see.
And with that Diamond Doll faded into the sunlight, leaving Kipwil alone with her thoughts.
What lies ahead for Kipwil? Will she find her direction? Stay tuned for future episodes....
